CSV Import / Export

Since version 2.1.0 you can import and export CSV-Data in Event Table Edit. For this go to the backend and choose Components -> Event Table Edit -> CSV Import or CSV Export.

CSV (Character Separated Values)
CSV is a possibility to save text-based table data. Single Cells are divided with a separating character (e.g. semicolon). Rows are marked with a new row. It's a pity that there is no general CSV-Standard. But some Pseudo-Standards are common. With Event Table Edit you can import a file with CSV-Data (file extension .csv or .txt). More info on CSV here.

Import
You have three possibilities: The first is to create a completely new table with the CSV-File, the second is to overwrite an existing table, and the third to append data to a existing table. Further you have to specify with what separating character your data is separated (; , :). And finally it is important if your cells are generally quoted, or quotes are only added when a cell contains the separating character or more quotes. I know this sounds very confusing, but because there is no standard there is no general method to act with CSV-Data - you know the proof of the pudding is in the eating!

  • Create a new table
After you have chosen a file and adjusted the settings click Upload. The values in the first row of the CSV-File are now taken as table heads. On the following site you can choose the datatypes for the cols.
If you see strange values on this site and you can't choose a datatype for every col you probably had the wrong settings for your CSV-File.
If you setted your datatypes click Apply. If the import was successful you should see a summary and further instructions.
  • Overwrite an existing table
Basically everything is the same. But after you have chosen a file and adjusted the setting you have to select the radio button Overwrite an existing file. Now you see a dropdown field where you can choose which table you wanna overwrite. From now everything is exactly the same like above.
  • Append data to an existing table
The beginning is exactly the same like overwriting a table. But if everything works after a click on Upload you're finished. It's important that the number of cols in the CSV-File is exactly the number of cols in your existing table. If not a error message will be shown.
Export
Normally the export should be really easy. First choose, what table you want to export and then choose which separator you wanna have and if you want your cells quoted. Most programs like Excel can import the CSV-Data if you leave the standard settings. Then click Export.
Copy the data from the textfield and save it in a file on your PC.
