What are datatypes?
Friday, 11 July 2008 20:02

In general the setting of the datatypes is something for advanced users. You don't need it for the normal use of Event Table Edit. The component working well if you choose the standard datatype "TEXT". The setting of the datatype is only important, if you want to use the automatic sorting.
At the moment you have the possibility to choose between TEXT (every kind of text - alphabetical sorting), INTEGER (you can sort after Integers (1, 2 , 3, ...), FLOAT e.g. 2.564456, DATE e.g. 12.06.2007 and TIME e.g. 10:30:45. Of course setting the datatype is only good if you want to give in special data into one col. E.g. income on a day: 2046.46. (The datatypes are used very strict so 2046.46 €" would generate an error with float. To give in this you would have to choose TEXT.

Since Version 2.1.1 there are additionally the fields dropdown and boolean
More about dropdowns here.

Boolean is a field that contains "YES" - "NO" or nothing (displayed by a symbol). With an easy click on the cell you can change the status.
