This mostly depends on what Joomla version you're using:

Joomla! 1.6 with Event Table Edit > 3.0.0

Go to the backend and click on "Components" -> Event Table Edit -> Tables in the menu column. Click New and choose the parameters, you want. (Be careful to set the right access levels, so that you are allowed to edit the table in the frontend.) Click on Save.

Then create a new menu link, and choose as menu type Standard View at Event Table Edit und then choose on the right side under Choose table the table you wish.

Joomla! 1.5 with Event Table Edit > 2.0.0
Go to the backend and click on the top menu on Menus. Then choose the menu you where you want to set the link to the table. For example the Main Menu.

Now click New in the toolbar and on the next page click Event Table Edit under the menu point Intern Link. When doing this different points open. Choose under the point "Standard" the Default Layout.
Then enter a title for your link and you can set more configuration.

On the right hand side under parameter there's a field Table Number. Normally the value is one. This field and the number is for creating different tables. The single tables are identified through this number. That means, if you want to create a new table, enter a number that is not used, yet. (Used numbers can be looked up under Components -> Event Table Edit -> Tables / Configuration.
If you want to set a link on an existing table, easily enter the number of this table.
Finally click Save.

It is important to know, that the table is not generated by saving the menu link, but by the first request of the frontend site!
Also when your looking under Components -> Event Table Edit -> Tables / Configuration it's listed after the click.

If you can see only the filter but no button to create the table in the frontend first set the access levels in the backend to ALL.

Joomla! 1.0.x with Event Table Edit 1.2.0
In most parts it works exactly the same.
Go to the backend and click on Menu. Then choose the Menu where you wanna set the link. For example mainmenu. On the next page choose under the point Components Component and click Next. Enter a name for this link, and choose in the dropdown list Event Table Edit. You can set more configuration then. Finally click Apply.
On the right hand side below parameter the field Table Number occurs. (You can find the exact description to configure this point above on the Joomla 1.5 description.)
Click Save.
