Release Event Table Edit 2.1.0 Beta
Friday, 15 August 2008 13:35

About four weeks after the release of Event Table Edit 2.1.0 Alpha we're proud to presentate version 2.1.0 beta. The main changes in this version are many many bugfixes. Especially on the CSV-Import and the AJAX-Frontend there were lots of things to correct.

A small list

 • Now you can save the cells with the Enter-Button
 • Bugfixed AJAX-Frontend
 • Bugfixed CSV-Import / Export
 • Changed printview because there were problemes when seo was switched on
 • Tested the component with Error Reporting on Maximum
 • Lots of small bugfixes

What has to be done until Stable

 • Delete the deprecated Delete- and Edit-Methods in the source code
 • Cleanup the source code
 • It should be possible to specify the width of the table in the configuration
 • Enhance the CSV-Import. At the moment a CSV-File has to be UTF-8 encoded to be processed correctly. Until Stable that should be no more problem.

Last but not least we want to say thanks to everybody who helped us testing the component and wrote bug reports. For the translators a big thank you, too.

Release Event Table Edit 2.1.0 Alpha
Thursday, 17 July 2008 14:19

Finally Event Table Edit Version 2.1.0 Alpha is released. In short the most important new things:

 • CSV Import / Export: Easily import CSV Data into tables or create new tables by importing it. CSV Data is a table format where the cells are separated by specials characters (e.g. ";"). For example you could export a Excel-File into CSV and then import this file with Event Table Edit. Of course the other way round works, too. Export your tables within seconds!
 • Ajax-Editing: A really cool and fast way for editing the tables. Easily edit / change/ delete table cells and rows in the frontend. Now you don't have to reload the page or wait for an interface showing up for editing data. Easiliy click on the table cells - a small window pops up - write your content in it - and save it. This makes editing the table really faster and easier!
 • Up-Counting first column: You use the table for a ranking list or something like that? Now you can show a first col in the table where the rows are numbered.
 • Sitebreak: Too much data for one page? Lots of users told us, that they have so much data inside the table, that it's really difficult to have it on one page. Now you can define a number of rows, after which the table is broken to another page. Then you can browse through the pages. This really makes your data clearly arranged.
 • Better BB-Code Support: This version provides two more possibilies to structure your cells with BB-Code. Finally you can insert a linebreak with [br]. It was really annoying with the last versions, that you couldn't linebreak your data. Additionally you can insert images with . Because images easily blast the layout, the administrator can adjust if he wants to use that option - or not.
 • Enhanced Filter Function: Finally a string once entered into the filter is persistent until you delete it. In former versions the filter was always reseted after editing a row.
 • Access Level See: We added a access level for only seeing the table

Finally: This version is marked as ALPHA. That means, that you should be very very careful at using this version at productive sites. The point is, that there are really lots of changes in the code, and I need testers who are trying out the new functions. Especially the CSV functions and the ajax frontend are really complex things. So please tell me if problems occur.Test it in different browsers on different servers from a to z.
To see what bugs are reported, yet and to report new bugs visit http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/ev_table_edit/forum/.

And please, again the question if anybody wants to help me developing this component. It is really much work doing this, alone. And if anybody wants to make a translation please contact me.

New site on new server
Wednesday, 09 July 2008 13:44
Some of you may have recognized, that the old site of Event Table Edit was offline for a few weeks. We want to say sorry for that but now we have created a completely new site that bases on Joomla 1.5 and is hosted on a new server. Joomla didn't work properly on the old one, so we decided to built this new site under the new domain www.event-table-edit.com. We're sorry that it wasn't possible to transfer the old user accounts. So you have to register again.

Another problem we're facing at the moment is, that joomfish and fireboard aren't compatible. So we can't offer you a forum on this page. For more information visit forum.

We hope, that all old problems are fixed by this and we finally want to concentrate on the development of Event Table Edit 2.1.0 alpha. When this is released you can find a demo and test area on this site, again.

When comes finally the next version?
Friday, 09 May 2008 00:00

In fact there was no new release of Event Table Edit in the last few months. One reason is, that I'm really busy at the moment. The second reason is that there is really a mass of new features in version 2.1.0. The version is quite completed, but I have to announce another delay:

Beside features like the CSV Import / Export, enhanced BB-Code / Pagebreak and much more there will also be a Ajax-Editing. That means when editing, deleting or adding a new row you don't have to reload the whole page but a single click on the cell will be enough to edit it.
